Sony Pal on DD Free Dish from 1 April 2025

Sony Pictures Networks has reserved a stall in the 85th e auction of DD Free Dish on Monday. It is being said that they have won the slot to add their Hindi General Entertainment Channel “Sony Pal“. If reports are to be believed, Sony Pal channel paid Rs 18.55 crore to win a slot in DD Free Dish.

It is very surprising that Sony Pal, inspite of being a pay category channel has won the slot on DD Free Dish because a new notification was issued by TDSAT some time back that no pay category channel can be added on DD Free Dish unless it is free to air for all DTH and cable operators.

We think that maybe the broadcasters have decided to make their main Hindi GEC channels Free to all just like they have made their other popular channels free to Air for Direct to Home DTH and cable TV operators.

This is not the first time that Sony Pal is participating in DD Free Dish, rather some time back also Sony Pal channel used to be on DD Free Dish but due to pressure from private DTH and cable TV operators the broadcasters had to discontinue their main Hindi Entertainment channels from DD Free Dish which includes Sony Pal, Zee Anmol, Star Utsav and Colors Rishtey.
