Big Magic will be removed from DD Free Dish
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Private Limited’s Hindi General Entertainment Channel “Big Magic” is going to be removed from Prasar Bharati’s Lifetime Free Direct to Home DTH service “DD Free Dish” as well as other DTH and Cable TV platforms because the Broadcaster’s decided to shut down this channel and sell to another broadcaster. Big Magic was launched in April 2011 by Reliance Broadcasting Network but due to the financial crisis, Reliance sold these channels to Zee Entertainment Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. in 2016.
Zee Entertainment and Sony Pictures Network decided to sell Big Magic as well as another two Hindi Movie channels to another broadcaster to address possible anti-competition concerns arising out of their proposed mega-merger deal. They submitted their proposal to the Competition Commission of India (CCI), which cleared the deal subject to certain modifications on 4th October.
Big Magic is a Hindi Entertainment channel which is available on All DTH, Cable TV and IPTV platforms including the OTT platform “Zee5”. Once another broadcaster takes over this channel, it will not be available by Zee Group and it will be removed from All distribution platforms the new broadcaster will decide whether to continue this channel in every DTH and Cable TV platform or not. If Big Magic will not take participate in the upcoming annual online e-auction for DD Free Dish MPEG-2 slots then this channel slot will be given to another new channel.
