Zee Classic is going to shut down
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Private Limited and Sony Pictures Networks decided to sell three existing Hindi channels to another broadcaster because Zee and Sony have submitted their proposals to the Competition Commission of India (CCI). They have issued a 58-page long detailed order which informs that the two broadcasters have agreed to sell Zee Classic (Hindi Movies channel) as well as another two channels and shut down its operations in India.
Zee Classic was launched by Zee Network in 2005 to show the 70s and 80s Classic Hindi Blockbuster Movies of the Golden Era. Later Zee decided to shut down this channel and launch another Hindi Movie channel dedicated to 24×7 Bollywood channel named “Zee Bollywood” in 2015. After huge demand from customers, Zee Network again applied for a license to re-launch the Zee Classic channel and it was launched again in 2019 and available on All major DTH and Cable TV platforms such as Dish TV, d2h (SES-8), Tata Play, and Airtel Digital TV.
As of now, the broadcaster has not informed us which broadcaster can buy Zee Classic and another 2 Hindi channels. Once it’s done, this channel will be removed from all DTH, Cable TV and IPTV platforms.
